Writing Assignments: How to Impress Your Professor

As a student there are some simple things that you can do to improve the final grade you receive in any class. One of those things is to learn how to impress your professor. There is nothing wrong with this type of activity because all professors are people and are going to develop a like or a dislike about everyone they meet. Why not increase the odds that you will fall on the like side by following these simple suggestions.

The first rule of doing anything is to be on time. With a professor this is going to be particularly significant in impressing them. Being on time to class means that you are present and in your seat before the class is scheduled to begin. It is best to arrive to class about 15 minutes early if you can manage it. This means there will be no chance of being late and often you can get to know your professor personally during this time. Your professors like their class and think it’s important. Showing up late tells them that you don’t think that class is very important. It doesn’t take any added intelligence or skill to arrive to class early and it can help your grade significantly.

Class participation is another great way to impress your professor. A student who obviously studies, takes pride in their knowledge and answers questions when asked, is going to make that instructor notice them. One should be careful to practice participation in moderation, so that other students can participate. Consistent effort is what a professor will notice and they will like having you in their class.

Following the directions given by an instructor can also allow a student to be more liked. Most professors have a strict outline for their courses and have hard deadlines that they expect certain assignments to be passed in. It shows a lack of respect if you deviate from this schedule. Complete work on time and as the professor instructs you to do it. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Most professors like helping other people which is why they got into education in the first place.

Finally, treat your professor and your classmates with common courtesy and respect. These attributes are noticed by everyone who observes your behavior. It doesn’t do you any good to be respectful and kind to your professor if you are rude and disrespectful to your peers right in front of him.
